In this article, the writer notes that with increased competition and globalization, increasing numbers of companies are recognizing that they need to continually keep one step ahead of the other products and services in the marketplace. The writer points out that innovation, creativity and teamwork are very important to this end goal. The writer discusses a team project to make a glider, and notes many different aspects of creativity. The writer relates that although most people have a concept of what a glider looks like in their mind, these teams put the typical idea out of their mind and came up with something new and different. The writer maintains that companies have to have leaders who listen to their employees and are willing to accept changes. Then, the writer concludes that these leaders also need to have people work in teams, as in the case with the glider.

"There are many activities that promote teamwork such as raw egg drops and designing and building a glider, which the writer did along with the group at the team-building session. Each of the teams was given a similar materials and quantity of balsa wood and paper. The glider could not be any heavier than 50 gm and had to fly at least 15 metres. The team whose glider went the furthest from the launching point to the ground was the winner. Each team had three tries. The most interesting aspect was that each of the team's gliders looked very different. Although most people have a concept of what a glider looks like in their mind, these teams put the typical idea out of their mind and came up with something new and different."
"Even though building the glider was the required end result, it was the means that was so important."
