Psychoanalysis dates back in history to the days of Freud and how his own personal experience with the Oedipus complex. Psychoanalysis was a new idea that many rejected in the beginning. Today, many people connect psychoanalysis with the talking cure similar in nature to psychotherapy today. Personal and societal factors affected psychoanalysis from the beginning and these continue to affect psychology today."
