More than that, Lev Vygotsky's work on child development gives us a measure of just how meaningful the environment around a child really is as he or she expands her psychological and intellectual wings. By comparison, the work of Jean Piaget provides us with some benchmarks but not with substantive suggestions. Ultimately, while the situation is not ideal, a therapeutic approach coupled with a strong support system might be all that is needed to turn this situation around."
