The author points out that Boyer's six principles for defining a suitable multicultural community are purposeful, open, just, disciplined, caring and celebrative. The paper relates that the collective effect of these conditions is the development of a setting in which diversity is seen as an opportunity for learning for all as opposed to being an obstacle to educating. The author suggests that the major variables for improving the multicultural proclivities apparent in our school are the diversity of faculty, of learning content and of learning media. The paper recommends a number of professional strategies, which may be independently implemented by teachers working in a context of student diversity.
