Abstract
This paper provides a case study of young African man who was brought into A&E by the ambulance crew. The main theory that underpins the whole assessment process is the Roper- Logan-Tierney Model by Roper et al (1996), popularly known as the Roper's model, which emphasises the interaction between biological, psychological and social factors as influences on human behaviour and therefore, on health.

The Assessment Process
The History of the Presenting Problem
Nursing Management Priorities
Conclusion

From the Paper
"The history of the presenting problem was collected from the statements and the documentation of the paramedics as well as by directly asking the patient. In many cases the patient was asked to confirm the details. This was good as the patient was actively included in the process. The paramedic said that they had been called to the patient's address as the patient was a having a progressive headache and that it was so bad that he could not function in any way, let alone, drive to the A&E department."

Nursing Case Study, 2005.
This paper offers a nursing care plan that uses critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning.
675 words (approx. 2.7 pages), 2 sources, £ 18.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
The paper provides a case study that assesses the status of a patient and the nursing outcomes suggested to improve the physical status of the patient. The patient is an elderly woman who broke an arm in a car accident and has been having successive dizzy spells. The case study is not included in the paper. The paper focuses on the objectives, outcomes and strategies of nursing in this case study.

From the Paper
"With the existing knowledge, care strategies should be used to promote the comfort of the patient. The principle symptoms that the patient demonstrates appear to be related to their physical discomfort and pain management is the objective of this scenario. Additional care objectives will need to be further clarified when the tests are returned: If the patient has suffered head injury, for example, or if the medication that the patient has been prescribed contributed to the successive dizziness and fall. It is intriguing that no background information on the conditions leading up to the initial accident is provided. Background information is critical in making conscientious, informed decisions in nursing practice (Hanson, 2000). There is a chance that the same dizziness that caused the patient's fall also contributed to dizziness in which the patient lost control of their vehicle."

From the Paper
"Mrs Tran (she prefers to be called "Grace") is a 47-year-old Vietnamese woman. She speaks little English and is traveling with her husband "John" from Vietnam. Although not mentioned, language barriers with the husband should be anticipated in order to ensure clear two-way understanding of the situation at hand. The couple were visiting their son, who is currently studying international business at La Trobe University. Medical diagnosis Mrs Tran presented 12 days ago with a sudden-onset headache and subsequent loss of consciousness. There were presumably no other extenuating factors surrounding her sudden illness. She has a significant past history of hypertension but was otherwise well. Compliance issues may have to be ruled and anticipated against when she recovers. A head CT scan revealed a 5cm x 4cm left frontal intracerebal hemorrhage."

Japanese Cultural and Nursing Assessment, 2005.
This paper discusses Japanese culture and its relationship to nursing assessments of patients from this culture.

Abstract
This paper explains emphatically that problem of communicating in English is the first and most obvious factor to be considered in nursing interventions with Japanese-Americans. The author points out that, when working with Japanese family members, physicians should remember that the traditional hierarchy is the father of the house, then the oldest adult son, then the mother and only then the daughter. When health decisions must be made by the family, the physician should withdraw to allow the family to have an open discussion in private. The paper relates that Buddhist and Shinto religious beliefs influence this population's feelings about illness and death.

Conclusion

From the Paper
"It is important for a nursing practitioner to keep this in mind as, in the 2000 census, 796,700 residents of the U.S. identified their "race" as Japanese. Thus, it is useful for all nursing practitioners, particularly those residing on the West Coast to keep abreast of Japanese cultural traditions. Also, even when residing in Japan, Japanese first-generation immigrants have traditionally seemed less eager than other immigrant groups to assimilate into the hegemonic culture. One measure of this is that compared to other Americans of Asian background, a lower percentage of Japanese elders speak English. "In 1990, only 36% said they did not speak English very well." ''

A Nursing Assessment of Infant Pain, 2005.
A review of the assessment of pain in infants proving that infants experience pain more acutely than adults.
1,800 words (approx. 7.2 pages), 6 sources, £ 49.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
This paper is a literature review of a quantitative research study based on pain assessment of neonates and the corresponding practice of documenting findings of the pain assessment. The author's beliefs and findings were consistent with other research in the area that while the belief is strong in the need to follow recommended assessments and use prescribed assessments tools, the practice of documenting assessment findings is inconsistent - in other words, pain assessments may take place, but little documentation exists.

From the Paper
"Infants experience pain more acutely than do adults (Reyes, 2003). This is a concept that has radically changed since the time when the medical profession was of the belief that infants did not experience pain at all due to nerve fibers that were yet to develop myelinated sheaths. Also changing, has been technology and nursing practices related to neonatal pain assessment. This paper will analyze the October, 2003 article: Nursing Assessment of Pain, published in the Journal of Perinatal and Neonatal Nursing (Reyes, 2003). The analysis presentation will follow class report review guidelines, focusing on why this study is important to the field of nursing."

Abstract
This document discusses a situation at a hospital where wait times for patient service or inordinately high. Physicians, nurses, and patients as well as administrators have all complained. A team has been assigned to address the problem and, with the assistance of the HR director, is going to make recommendations and observations to the hospital CEO.

From the Paper
"Hospital physicians, administrative staff, nurses, and patients have all made note of, and in many cases complained of, inordinate wait times for service delivery in the hospital. The hospital CEO has directed a team of administrative staff to determine the cause or causes of this inordinate wait time and to identify corrective measures. The team has identified a particular departmental supervisor that is not open to improvement or willing to accept the changes that are necessary to correct this and other problems. Additionally, because of the authoritarian management styles on the part of past executive leadership of the hospital, the team membership is somewhat reticent to approach the CEO with its results and feedback."

Assessment and Intervention - Case Study, 2001.
An investigation of theoretical perspectives for social work and mental health practice.
3,200 words (approx. 12.8 pages), 18 sources, MLA, £ 63.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
A case example is presented, theoretical models are applied, assessment tools are presented, cultural values and key issues are discussed, goals are identified, and an intervention plan is developed.

From the Paper
"Another theoretical perspective that the clinician may focus upon with this client is the behaviorism point of view. Behavior therapies focus on very specific aspects of the individual?s behavior and seeks to increase appropriate behavior by modifying the negative behavior. This viewpoint also believes that ?overt behavior should be studied, without reference to consciousness or mental processes? (Skolnick, 1986, p. 523). Another words, not much effort is put forward to study the psychodynamics of the individual, while the present is emphasized in the treatment of the client. Behavior therapies might be utilized by the clinician in this case to focus on her behavior of fighting for example. If the clinician can improve upon the client?s behavior and physical altercations that she has began to become involved in, this will be one specific step in achieving a better lifestyle for the client overall. Family Nursing Case Assessment, 2005.
An analysis of family using the Calgary Family Assessment Model (CFAM).
2,025 words (approx. 8.1 pages), 15 sources, £ 55.95
» Click here to show/hide summary

Abstract
This paper is a family nursing case study which uses the Calgary Family Assessment Model (CFAM) in order to analyze a family's structure, family member relations and dynamics and functioning. Using this assessment model, the paper pinpoints various potential problems that may come about later which might not be addressed by other methods of assessment. The paper then discusses solutions to the present dilemma and includes a critical analysis of the student's participation in the assessment process.

From the Paper
"The family under study consists of a mother age 33, a father age 36, son age 10 and daughter age 7. This family has no extended family support as the mother's parents are both deceased and the father's mother is too ill to assist in raising their children or helping out with household duties. The family does not provide direct care for her; the father's sister undertakes this responsibility. Siblings on both sides are not close and do not provide much assistance. As previously mentioned, the son is the eldest. He has been diagnosed with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD/dyspraxia), a learning disorder that causes a delay in language comprehension, speech and poor physical co-ordination."
