Abstract
The paper examines whether our conscious perception is an epiphenomenon of the activity of our central nervous system. The paper states that the argument is based on the fact that perception is shaped by cultural factors, meaning that people from two different cultures do not perceive the world in exactly the same way and explains that if conscious perception was not an epiphenomenon of the central nervous system, there would be no significant differences between cultures.

Abstract
This paper relates that researching and writing a paper about baseball in Asheville, North Carolina involved the process of finding good sources, determining the validity and quality of their content and then selecting eight of them to be used in writing the paper. The author points out that, although he did go to the library for printed sources, he relied on the Internet, especially the search engine Google, to identify potential sources quickly. Abstract
The paper questions whether there is any evidence that increased levels of anxiety result in a higher incidence of substance abuse. People who are very anxious may consume larger quantities of alcohol, smoke more heavily or resort to drugs as a way of self medication in treating an anxiety disorder. The paper relates that the higher the levels of self-reported anxiety,the more difficult it is to complete a treatment program, with the possibility that the person will return to the disorder of abuse on completing the program. The paper continues and discusses subtle affinities of anxiety disorders with that of substance abuse, by indicating that there are minor differences between the amount of abuse by alcoholics who have anxiety disorders, and those that do not. This indicates that anxiety disorders are an independent factor in the study of substance abuse.

"However, trait anxiety levels were positively correlated with negative substance abuse consequences, i.e., relapses even after treatment. Trait anxiety levels were also negatively correlated with the number of days an individual spent in treatment. In other words, the more anxiety problems that an individual experienced, the more likely it was that they would be substance abusers and the longer it would take for that individual to successfully complete the treatment program. Additionally, both state and trait anxiety levels were positively correlated with the level of addiction that the individual expressed, as measured and documented by the researchers (O'Leary et al., 2000). The implication of this finding is obvious: the higher the level of anxiety that an individual experience--in other words, the greater the possibility of an anxiety disorder--the more likely it would be for that individual to have a greater substance abuse problem."

Abstract
This paper looks at the predominantly vegetarian diets of both the early australopithecines and the present-day peoples of the Australian "out-back" and the African Kalahari. The paper also points out some of the unsettling racial dynamics, which have complicated scholarly investigations into what the comparative diets of these groups say about them and about their position relative to other branches of the human family. The paper then explores the group/social organization, the division of labor within Australopithecine camps and how and to what extent the ancient Australopithecines were food foragers and meat scavengers. The author of the paper relates that, in all of these instances, brief comparisons are drawn between the behavior and characteristics of the ancient Australopethecus and those of modern-day hunter-gatherers. The paper concludes that the similarities between the early hominids and today's aboriginal tribes suggest that we can learn much about the behavior and evolution of the former by studying the latter.

This paper relates that several reviews have reported social support to be inversely related to total and cardiovascular mortality and morbidity and changes in cardiovascular reactivity based on the difference between task levels and baseline levels of cardiovascular indicators. The author reports that cardiovascular reactivity has been suggested as a potential mediator of the benefits of social support on health such that social support affects reactivity that in turn affects health. The paper describes the methodology by which (HR), systolic blood pressure (SBP), and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) reactivity were manipulated given conditions of support, no-support or alone by using a computer challenge task. The approach of removing the child witnesses of domestic violence and placing then in non-violent environments may not always be practical or helpful. The purpose of the study is to examine on possible solution to ending the generational cycle of domestic violence and reserving this solution to the most severe cases.
