Germany and WWI
A look at reasons for the First World War and whether Germany was solely responsible.
1,366 words (approx. 5.5 pages) | 5 sources | APA | 2001 United Kingdom

Paper Summary:

This paper puts forward the opinion that Germany was solely responsible for the outbreak of World War One. It puts forward a number of issues such as the alliance system, Weltpolitik, the economy and the arms race to support the author's argument.

From the Paper:

"From 1897, German foreign policy changed to Weltpolitik, Germany admired Britain's empire and international standing. Germany was the European leader in economy and trades overtaking Britain and second only to America in steel, coal and electricity production. Germany saw economic benefits and influence that colonization could bring and at that time Africa and the Far East was the place to go. The majority of European countries had colonies but Germany had difficulties in attaining this mainly because if your going to be a world power you need a big navy to get you around the world."
